Rutgers University World Affairs Review (RU WAR) is an annual journal of undergraduate research on global affairs. Established by members of the Rutgers Association of International Relations (RU AIR), World Affairs Review has blossomed into an ambitious effort to present the face of research at Rutgers to the rest of the student community, and perhaps more importantly, to the world at large.

Our Goals

The editorial staff of the World Affairs Review, composed entirely of undergraduates, has identified two main goals for the journal: first, to reward serious analytical and theory-generating research in the fields of political science, history, economics, sociology, and regional study; and second, to foster a more informed and mature discussion among undergraduates of the effects of important events, both historical and current, on the relationship between actors in the international community in the years to come. By promoting constructive forms of research and debate within the diverse Rutgers community, World Affairs Review aspires to contribute in important ways to a worldwide pursuit of global peace and prosperity.

Our Journal

World Affairs Review premiered its very first volume to the Rutgers community in April of 2006. Encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive response from faculty and students alike, we remain committed to publishing, twice every year, an academic journal of the finest quality. In every issue of the World Affairs Review, readers can expect to find fascinating research papers written by their undergraduate peers featured side-by-side with the work of prestigious professors at Rutgers University. Moreover, we provide exclusive content in the form of essays and interviews with prominent personalities in global politics. All told, the World Affairs Review engages a formidable scholarly literature in international relations and crafts it tastefully into a journal that undergraduates will feel comfortable reading.

Your Role

There are a number of ways to take part in the discussion we are creating here at World Affairs Review, and not all of them require the submission of research papers. We provide an Opinions page for you to write about these same global issues in a less formal setting. Our Message Board is waiting to be utilized as a means of expressing your thoughts on important topics ranging from free trade and alliance politics to global poverty and democratization. Finally, merely by reading the journal and supporting our activities you play an important role in moving Rutgers forward in the global community.
